25 Days of Christmas (Complete)

Hey all,

So for December I did a project where I posted a picture a day for 25 days with a Christmas theme. I feel like I could have done better but I did have a hard time trying to stay with the theme for the entire month. It was definitely challenging and got me thinking how important it is to stay in the game and keep shooting or else you tend to lose your touch. My biggest issue was coming up with the ideas. Let’s see what 2012 brings us….I have some plans and need to sort them out. Hope you enjoy the slideshow I put together.

iPhone! A photographers best friend…

So I was never a huge Apple fan until we purchased an iPad. From there our next purchase was a MAC about a year ago. I was falling in love. Our latest purchase has been the iPhone which we have been delaying in hopes it would come out for our current carrier which was Sprint, and finally the day had came in Mid-October. Since then I’ve been using the camera a lot as it’s one of its few features that the iPhone is known for. I never thought a camera would work so well on a cell phone before. I’ve played with the older iPhones in the past but was never impressed, but the latest one seems to have been really enhanced which I’m really excited about. As a quote I’ve heard and live by, “The best camera is the one you carry with you at all times.” So I thought I’d share some recent photos with you taken on the new phone. I tend to post most photos on Twitter (@jcaetanophoto) or Instagram (John Caetano), so follow me there for more!

Yea, I notice…, my posting lately has been slow. I really feel like I’m losing touch on photography as my camera just sits on the shelf longer and longer each time I’ve last grabbed it. Lately I’ve been trying to think of a shoot idea that I want to shoot to try and get back in the game. I’ve been looking on FlickR, Twitter, and strobist sites. Nothing has been helping. Thinking back to my Project 365 days, I just realized that the only way to get ideas is to shoot and shoot some more. All the time I’m wasting on the web trying to steal other people’s ideas, I should be shooting myself and coming up with my own creative thinking. Well here goes photo # 1 trying to get back into the game. I’m not sure why but I seem to shoot more into the winter months where that’s where most folks usually tend to slow down…Hope to post more pictures soon!

Apple Picking

My wife asked if we can go apple picking this year, and since I’m a nice guy, I said why not. Really though it was her birthday and I couldn’t say no, so we took a trip along with her other two sisters and their men. Got a chance to grab the camera and take some shots. It’s been a while so it felt a bit weird, but was nice to get back behind the camera and get some shots. I need to stay more interested, as I can’t believe how quickly you can lose your touch on photography. Hope you enjoy the photos…

Some colleagues of mine are having a baby soon, and asked me to do a shoot of them. They are actually due very soon, so I wish them the best of luck. They gave me the OK to share some photos so here are some I took that day..

Visit to Portugal

So the family finally got together this year and made it to Portugal. As I grew up, I would travel here almost yearly, but as I got older, and things got more expensive, it was more difficult. My parents have finally rebuild their home on the beach and it has been their wish to have the family get together and visit. We finally did just that this year and I loved it. It was a really great time and brought back so many memories. Check out the slide show below for some of the shots:

Summer’s here, let the partying begin. So again this year we got together with some great friends and took advantage of the great weekend to the start of a new summer. I must say I’m pretty excited this year. Took on some new hobbies and looking to do some creative work this summer. Check out some photos from the weekend:

Week 38: Rain Rain Go Away

So as MDW nears, as we do every year the shore crew gathers up and goes DTS to get the shore house ready. We normally go to clean up and get all the gear ready to enjoy our first long weekend of the year. My friend actually purchased a new boat this year, and we have another boat plus my waverunner. I got a feeling it’s going to be a fun year but I just hope the rain holds up these summer weekends. Below is a shot I saw when Arianna was playing in the rain. I saw the opportunity, ran and grabbed the camera and snap! I like it

Week 37: Finally relaxing

So it’s all over and time to finally sit back and relax with the new wifey. As part of our Honeymoon we took a trip out to Jamaica, which was our first time there. Must say the weather was perfect and it was a good time. Looking forward to our 2nd trip to Portugal at the end of June.

Week 36: Wedding Week!

So it’s here and it came up quick. After 1 and half years of waiting, the day is here and I’m ready! Here’s a shot that wasn’t necessarily shot this week, but it’s a shot that I been holding back for a long time because I used it as a photo to hang near the table place cards. Shout out thanks to the best man and brother-in-law for taking this wonderful shot.
